the ones you love...
the quiet moments care package...
This has been a year of meeting people we'd love to work with. Even better, it's been a year of Actually Doing Something About It. HA.
When Kai met Jessica & Aaron of Parker Mountain Comfort Wraps at a show, he knew. Immediately. That we could do something together...
While you can read their whole story at their site here, the short version is that a while back, Jessica stitched a comfort wrap for her mom during a time of illness. To let her know that she was loved & supported no matter how long it took to heal. Other people looking for a way to give comfort & support kept wanting these for their loved ones, so Jessica & Aaron started the company. Yay! Here are the first two things that came out of working together. Up top, you can see the Heart of Hope they offer at Parker Mountain, paired with our story, 'walk together'. It's a perfect gift of comfort for the ones you love when they're going through a rough patch... Here at Flying Edna, we have the quiet moments care package. Shown here with our bird & brush calendar & cardholder & a Parker Mountain eye pillow with our favorite scent of lavender. A reminder for an entire year that your loved one is in your thoughts...
Both are lovely reminders that you continue to hold the ones you love in the everyday moments.. Check them out when you get a chance...
We love shopping local - which is why we're always honored when stores want to carry our work... These past few weeks we've been working with them to be sure they're all set for the upcoming holidays - including having calendars on hand when you all walk through their doors. Of course, there are lots of reasons to get out in your neighborhood besides picking up the 2024 calendars. (Which is, of course, A Perfect Gift For Almost Anyone You Can Think Of...:-))
You get to discover fun people nearby (which you know they are, since they've got our stories. HA.).
You get to buy local & support the place you live.
You get to see what else is in the area, since it's easy to get into a habit of just going The Same Old Places All The Time.
You don't have to pay shipping.
You get to hold it in your hands before you buy it (because we can tell you about the feel & the colors all we want & It's Not Going To Be The Same...)
There are two other reasons that only you know, because, well.. it's your life. But you'll never know those reasons if you don't go out & get a calendar... (See what we did there? ;-))
Anyway, feel free to check out the list of stores that carry Flying Edna in the link below (& seriously, if they're not carrying the calendars yet, let them know to give us a call so we can fix that...) Or, if you absolutely must, because there's no one nearby, feel free to get your calendars from us. There's a link for that right down below, too...
what wants to come into your life now... a few of the ones you'll find...:-) Last week, after the first release of originals, someone asked me this: How can you let your work go so cheaply? she said. Doesn't it lessen the value of what you do?That question spun me around a bit. Because I thought it was obvious why I was doing it... But then I stopped: maybe it's obvious to me, but quite possibly Not At All Obvious To Anyone Who Is Not Me. HA. So, here's what I'd say about that: We all do it....
the unexpected gifts...:-) We run into this every year: little things we want to gift, unexpectedly... This year there's the now & then UPS backup driver, neighbors who already told us to keep an eye out for a holiday party invite & the giant St. Bernard next door who regularly exchanges barks with Yoshi... There are so many reasons to send along a card or a little something extra to people this time of year - to say thank you, we're thinking of you, or hang in there... the tricky thing is...
